TAO Dance & Y-3
TAO Dance Theater was invited by Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto for the Y-3 Spring and Summer Fashion Show in Paris Men’s Fashion Week, their work, 6 was performed throughout the show.
Tracing back to the origin of the brand, its founders Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto continue to explore and pursue how to dress and cover a body: a body in movement. Their collaboration for the fashion brand Y-3 (Y represents the initial of Yamamoto, and 3, the three lines on the Adidas logo) of the 2016 Spring and Summer collection are bold, symbolic, light, dynamic and fluid that highlights the elegance of the body in motion.
The show was first debuted at one of the most acclaimed French highschools, Lycée Carnot, on June 28, 2015, during the Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Yohji Yamamoto resumes his simple and caricature style, in association with visual theme of the three lines of the Adidas brand. The show invited guest performers, dance choreographer Tao Ye from China, and his dance studio to add a critical touch to the men and women’s shows with their audacious, avant-garde, and modernist body language.
Since the brand was established in 2003, Y-3 has been focusing on body movement, whose vision is to create fashionable sporting garments. Its essential spirit is to allow the body to move in rapidly, powerfully and elegantly. The design concept for the 2016 Spring and Summer Collection was inspired by Yohji Yamamoto’s quest for fearless energy and restoring the core value of Y-3 brand’s “ three lines in sports”. Yamamoto comments, “Movement, is the constant and eternal principle of life, it is my sole inspiration – the simple beauty of the body in movement.”
Y-3 is an internationally renowned fashion sportswear, headed by the famous designer Yohji Yamamoto as its creative director in collaboration with Adidas. Yamamoto integrates simplicity and other design elements from his personal brand into Y-3, presenting its basic concept image of humility and calmness. The brand’s pioneer, fashionable, comfortable and individualistic design has become a favorite of many international stars.
The Lycée Carnot is a public secondary and higher education school located at 145 Boulevard Malesherbes in the 17th arrondissement, Paris, France. “On June 28, 2015, during the Paris Men’s Fashion Week, Y-3 presented its 2016 Spring and Summer Collection at Lycée Carnot, the new line returns to an extreme minimalism based on Yohji Yamamoto’s signature style and the motifs of Adidas.
